Dear Friends,
Greetings!

For the first time in our ministries history, our annual convention held in Amalapuram was disrupted when due to protest by fundamentalist Anti-Christian groups, our guest speakers from the USA were barred from speaking or even greeting the crowd.

Anti-Christian elements had planned and come with a strategy of protest and to court arrest to disrupt the convention. Over 200 had gathered and giving false information to the police and media tried to stop the convention saying “foreigners were forcibly converting people”. Though they did not succeed in getting our guests arrested and deported, they did succeed to bar our guests from even sitting on the platform. In the end the police arrested 150 of these protesters and found 20 of them to be people of criminal record in this regard.

We are thankful to the police for their wise handling of the matter in a tense situation which could have brought communal disharmony.

The people of India are a peace loving people and these actions by a few militants does not reflect the heart of the nation.

However! What the opposition has meant for harm,God turned into a great blessing. Our leaders and known preachers in our ministry stood tall and boldly proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ giving open altar calls where thousands over the days gave there heart to Jesus. In one of our afternoon meetings, people thronged to the altar demanding to be baptized right away. What a tremendous response.

Instead of less attendance, our attendance went up day after day culminating in 18,000 people on Saturday night and around 16,000 people on Sunday morning. 120 people got baptized over the weekend. What a tremendous boldness came over the people as with opposition and persecution staring them in the face they gave their hearts to the Lord and then waded into the muddy canal to be baptized.

Speaker after speaker reiterated their resolve and the resolve of Manna. We will go to jail if we have to, we will withstand any persecution, but WE WILL NOT STOP PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST! Persecution may rear its ugly head under many different disguises, but the Church in India will grow and grow and will not be stopped.

Manna Dorcas Home for widows was opened to the Glory of God and to serve the widow who is forgotten, struggling and lost her identity. The Bible teaches us “pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world”

For years Manna has invested in the orphan and fatherless, but though we have helped the widow a little bit here and there, we have failed to emphasize the care of the widow. This has now changed and will continue to change in the future.

With generous help from our friends, we have constructed a home where we have started with an initial number of 20 widows. There they will live, be taken care of, help with our children in the children home and be trained in the Word of God. In the process with God’s help we will to restore their dignity, their joy and help them to find their God given purpose in life.

Our goal is with God’s help and help from our friends like you, we will open many more homes like this to bring life, joy and purpose to a young life that has had a tragic turn.

where do we go from here ?

As winter fades and spring begins to arrive, our heart and the hope that’s inside begins to rise. We have seen in the past season persecution arrive at our doorstep, we have had a Pastor’s family chased out of a village and the church damaged, we have seen struggles in our finances, but through it all God has shown himself faithful. His vision has not changed and our vision has not changed.

No matter what may come our way, we will go forward. We will go forward in reaching out to the nation of India with God’s compassionate love. We will feed the hungry child, clothe the naked, educate the child, give shelter to the homeless, bring comfort to those who mourn and most importantly we will preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My friends, we need you just as much as we always had. We can not and would not have been able to do this without your help. You partnering with us and God have truly made a difference in a multitude of lives. Once again, I ask you to stand with us so our motion is always forward. As you make your contribution, please also write to us your prayer requests, we are glad to pray for you and believe God’s best for you and your loved ones.

Yours in His service,

Bishop P. Ernest Komanapalli
